Steven's student Kent Queener wins the piano division of the Naftzger
Young Artist Competition. All three finalists in the piano division were KU students.
His award included a prize of $2,500.

Steven is named recipient of the Ivory Classics Foundation prize which enabled
him to study with the legendary virtuoso Earl Wild.

Dr. Spooner visits Budapest as
Guest Artist of the famed Liszt Academy of Music. He was invited by the Doctoral
Program to give lectures to the keyboard area. The previous semester's guest was
the distinguished Hungarian pianist Andras Schiff.
